What is it?

The Loran scholarship foundation was created in 1988 by Dr. Robert Cluett. It was created after noticing a gap in the Canadian financial aid system; Loran scholarship financial aid is given to “those who show promise of the leadership and other talents that will make their communities better places both during and after their university careers.” A lot of scholarships and scholarship programs in Canada are sports and academically based. Dr. Robert Cluett says that their work at the foundation is based on the “breadth, openness to challenge, and willingness to take risk are many times more important than any quantitative measure of promise.” When looking at scholarship candidates, the foundation has 3 main pillars of judgement: Character, Service and Leadership.
