We need post-secondary students with mental health difficulties to help us develop an online transition program geared towards students like you. The Assessment and Resource Centres of Ontario (one at Queen’s University and one at Cambrian College) have been funded to develop an online transition program in both a northern and southern region of Ontario for students with mental health issues transitioning from high school to post-secondary education. In order to address current gaps in transition programming, we need information from students with mental health concerns who are 18 and older and who have been accepted into or are currently studying at a post-secondary institution in Ontario.

The National Educational Association of Disabled Students (NEADS) is a research partner in this project and is conducting a series of focus groups and an online survey as part of an environmental scan. Focus groups are being held at four locations in Ontario: Timmins, Toronto, Kingston, and Sudbury. The online survey will allow students to participate in a manner that is accessible to them even if they cannot/do not wish to participate in the focus groups. Who is eligible to participate in the study? Any student who has been accepted into or is currently enrolled in a post-secondary program and who has experienced significant mental health difficulties is eligible. Students should be at least 18 years old, in their first or second year of college or university and have graduated from high school in the past two years. Participants can provide opinions via the anonymous online survey.

The survey takes about 10 minutes to complete and you can fill it out here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/ZL57MDT This research has been approved by the Cambrian College Research Ethics Board, the Queen’s University General Research Ethics Board and also by the Limestone District School Board.
