American Ecologist Initiative Scholarship

The Apprentice Ecologist Initiative (officially recognized by the U.S. EPA) has engaged tens of thousands of young volunteers (kids, teens, and college-age youth) from around the world in environmental cleanup and conservation projects since 1999. This program has received multiple awards from the City of Albuquerque, a “Best Community Impact” award from Eastern Kentucky University, and is featured on thousands of web sites.

Burger King Scholars Program

Created in memory of BURGER KING Co-founder James “Jim” W. McLamore, the BURGER KING Scholars program has awarded $25.3 million in scholarships to more than 24,000 high school students, BK employees and their families across the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico since 2000. In 2015 alone, the Foundation awarded $2.7 million to close to 2,500 students in North America.

Define cross-connection control; then find five hidden cross-connection hazards in your community and identify either how they should be corrected or how they’ve been corrected and whether the correction is adequate for the hazard level.
2016 Scholarship Topic-
Backflow prevention and cross connection control not only protect the drinking water in day to day applications, but it can also be a protection against terrorist acts. Tell the public what backflow hazards you would suggest for them to be aware of and how to protect the safe drinking water through backflow prevention in your community.
